SAFETY AWARENESS/SELF DEFENSE CLASS
(level one, basic)

Sunday, March 7, 9 am to noon
St. John's School gym, 925 Chenery St.,
Glen Park, San Francisco  94131

Steering Committee members Ann Grogan and
Ken King discuss safety concerns with Rebecca
Prozan, candidate for Glen Park Supervisor
2010, Jan. 30 at Cafe Bello

This is a fun, informative, and non-threatening class suitable for older youth to seniors, and men and women, too.  It  is taught by martial arts instructor and community leader
Ken Craig. Ken says that:  "Most people who attend self-defense seminars do not religiously practice and perfect the defensive techniques they are taught to become proficient in them, thus all techniques taught must be intuitive, easy to remember, easy to apply, and above all, effective. Any technique that will not work for a child may not work for a smaller and lighter adult, but any technique that DOES work for a child will undoubtedly work just as well for a six foot, two hundred pound adult.

Minimum class age for participation is 16 yrs. Note that we will possibly be organizing age-appropriate classes in the near future for younger folks, so do let us know if you are interested in helping or your children attending such a class. Email: GPsafetyprogram@gmail.com

Class registration and full payment in advance is required and in our hands by March 3 please. General registration is $40 per person to cover the non-profit educational classes by Mr. Craig, and our local expenses. However, eight scholarships for $20 each are available first come, first served. These scholarships are provided by your steering committee and by Officer Cal Wiley. Make all checks  to "TMAA" and mail or drop off at: 2912 Diamond St., Ste. 239, San Francisco, CA 94131. We cannot accept credit cards. If you want to drop off cash please call to make an appointment to do same: 415-587-3863.

WALKALONG WITH OFFICERS CAL OR JIM (ongoing) - Please let us know if you wish to schedule a walkalong with our officer, to see how the Village reacts, what streets are patrolled, what incidents happen and what service is offered. You may also call Officer Cal to schedule the date and time: (415) 794-6343.

SIGN-UP FOR APRIL 25 FESTIVAL COMMITTEE - Please let us know GPsafetyprogram@gmail.com if you can help staff our booth for a two-hour shift and chat visitors up about our program, help set the booth up or take it down, or walk the streets with Officers Cal or Jim and hand out our safety brochure. You need not be a subscriber to participate. It's a great day and you'll meet a lot of caring Glen Park residents, merchants, and visitors.
